چکیده

A total of 260 tail blastemata (13 to 15-day regenerates) of adult newts was cultured, with 170 controls, in medium no. 1760 (modified Parker's Medium, CMRL-1415) for 98 h at 20 ±0-5 °C. Various hormones, related to the regeneration process, were added individually and in combinations. If hormones were not included in the culture medium, blastema growth and differentiation did not ensue. The results of these in vitro experiments further showed that the presence of insulin was essential in the maintenance and promotion of growth and differentiation of the explanted blastemata. In addition, thyroxine also promoted a limited amount of growth and differentiation of the blastema and maintained a normal epidermis in culture. Furthermore, advanced cartilage differentiation and maximum growth of the blastemata were observed in cultures treated with combinations of insulin, growth hormone and hydrocortisone; insulin, growth hormone and thyroxine or all four of these hormones. The evidence presented indicates that the collective influence of the hormones (insulin, growth hormone, hydrocortisone and thyroxine) is greater than the effect of any of them individually. The action of insulin on the tissues and the metabolism of vertebrates is discussed and related to the regeneration process. The possible involvement of a multiple hormone action (insulin, thyroxine, hydrocortisone and growth hormone) in regeneration is discussed.

Effect of gibberellic acid on the quality of sperm and in vitro fertilization outcome in adult male rats

Gibberellic acid (GA3) is a group of plant hormones identified in various plants. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of GA3 on sperm parameters and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Fifty six adult male rats were divided into seven groups as, control, treatment and sham. Following 15, 30 and 45 days of GA3 and methanol alcohol (MA) administration, rats were euthanized and e...

Influence of Plant Growth Regulators and Media on In vitro Propagation of Sorbus aucuparia L.

Aucuparia is an important slow growth forest tree with medicinal, industrial and ornamental uses which is applied for reforestation in high altitude of mountain lands. This species has been endangered at northern forests of Iran; therefore micropropagation of adult trees by bud culture may help to reforestation. The best sterilizing treatment was the buds washing with HgCl2% 0.1 solution for 7 ...

Indirect in vitro regeneration of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.)

Establishment of an efficient and reproducible regeneration protocol is one of the basic prerequisites for genetic transformation of any crop plant. In vitro culture of lentil has proven to be difficult. In spite of a number of reports on the regeneration of this plant, very few satisfying and reproducible protocol has yet been reported. This study carried out for investigation of diff...

Influence of Explant Nodal Positions on the In Vitro Shoot Regeneration of Rose

The influence of explant nodal positions on the in vitro shoot growth and proliferation were studied in the two rose cvs. ‘Bianca’ and ‘El Torro’. Third, fourth and fifth nodal explants were cultured on the modified MS medium supplemented with 1.0 and 5.0 mg/l BA. In both the cultivars, higher rate of proliferation (‘Bianca’ 3.75; ‘El Torro’ 2.65) were obtained from the explants distal to the a...
